With the current job climate being pretty interesting to say the least, especially as many people have taken new paths in their career because of the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), I thought I would have a look at what’s out there in the online bingo jobs world.
As we already know, bingo websites are made up of two parts, the company with the gambling license, the guys that run the site and then there are the software providers the guys that run the games and rooms.
There is actually a plethora of jobs in this ever growing world and many of them are pretty skilled roles and certainly have some really interesting elements. Online bingo is huge business so the people to fill the roles need to be a perfect fit to ensure those cogs keep running so we get to keep on playing our favourite online bingo.
Lets take a look at what there is out there right now:
Digital Campaign Manager
In this role, you would be delivering creative digital brand, acquisition, product and promotional campaigns which will add significant value to the brand. The experience required would be having the ability to interpret and use customer research as well as analytics from previous campaigns to enhance future activity .
Chat Moderator
I have came across loads of these on my bingo travels and it defiantly takes a certain type of person to have the gift of the gab, yet be alert to anything untoward or unkind being said across multiple chat rooms. Interestingly, a lot of these roles are filled by people all over the world. They can be home based which gives real flexibility.
I recall chatting to a moderator once who was in the Philippines. He disappeared on me for a few minutes and when I asked him where he had gone, he said there had been a tropical storm and his internet lost connection. Thought it was interesting but I am not sure the online bingo company he was working for would have been best pleased.
Anyway I digress, back to the role itself.
This operator is looking for a chat moderator to build the community spirit on their site and have the ability to talk in their sleep and have great communication skills. The key things with these role, is they are often the only human that a player may ever interact with on that site so its vital the role makes a good impression
Digital Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Assistant
These are the people that write the text on those blinking (I mean fabulous) SMS text messages that we get telling us about existing player offers, new games, new competitions. They also write the text and add design ideas to the promotional emails we can opt in or out of. A high level of flair in the English language is obviously a big skill required for this.
These people also write the text for those pop up boxes you get during games and they write all of the bits of information you read or tick when you are customising your experience on a site. Basically anything to do with the digital text and image aspect of your player experience.
Data Analyst
What we may not realise when we buy our bingo tickets is the amount of data clues we provide to the guys in this role. They collect every possible bit of data based on everything from our choice of username, to chat room name, to games we choose and our player habits (if we always play at 7.43am for 6 or 7 games or if we always log in at 9.00pm on the dot).
They analyse all our date, put it into graphs and make some careful decisions about just how they can, ultimately make more money. They are going to look at player trends and second guess (not really guessing), but using the analysis to make changes to improve player experience, change games around and basically anything to keep the site thriving.
Developer
I think this is the role where the money is. You will work alongside animators, designers a whole team of other developers to enhance player experience and of ten the case its about creating fun new games. These roles are very much for the types that adore maths and writing code because that is the special ingredient that brings these games to life.
I have probably written about this job last because lets be frank; so have to be a super brain box to be doing this kind of work.
