‘Mystery’ Teesside Gran Scoops Up 50K Win At ‘Luckiest’ Mecca Bingo

In just the last four years of playing with Mecca Bingo, both at her local club in Stockton, and also at Mecca’s online bingo site too, the lucky Teesside Granny – who’s true identity remains a mystery – has managed to bag a whopping £80K in prize funds with 6 huge wins since 2017. Quite possibly the luckiest player in the UK some might say? Well, she’s definitely not done bad that’s for sure.

According to an article in Teeside’s Gazette Live on Saturday, the mystery winner is in her 50’s and known online as her bingo persona, ‘Sweet_Cucumber’. Her wins have most certainly been ‘sweet’ without a doubt, with the most recent one landing her with just over 50K on Mecca’s Premiere Jackpot this weekend.

As if that’s not enough luck for one person within the first few weeks of 2021 too, this Grandma also very recently beat her battle with Covid-19 as well. She was said to have contracted the virus over the Christmas period, but has since recovered well and is back to full health now. Talk about starting the new year with a bang. It’s definitely been a ride for this lucky jackpot winner all round…

18p Stake Leads To Baby Essentials For Families In Need

The caring bingo fan apparently rushed straight out to spend £100 on nappies and baby supplies for charities to help families in need, and said the rest would be spent on her own family or saved for a future rainy day.

After a slightly rocky start to the year having contracted the Coronavirus quite badly, this couldn’t have come at a better time for this northern Gran.

She told the Mecca Winners Hub:

I’ve had all the luck, I can’t believe it.

She continued:

I’ve been playing with Mecca for 10 years and I’ve got so many friends online in the chat rooms which has been a real lifeline through lockdown, especially as I caught COVID-19 at New Year – I’m glad to be feeling much better now.

She also told the Gazette Live that having been furloughed from her job since last March, she is simply now looking forward to life returning to ‘normality’.

Our Stockton Gran is not the only one bagging all the luck up north it seems either at the moment.

According to a further article in the Gazette Live, her local Mecca Bingo club in Chandler’s Wharf, Stockton, is now dubbed as the ‘luckiest in the UK’ – after a staggering £1.2 million has been giving out in prize funds in just under a year.

Since reopening their doors on the 4th July 2020 after the first national lockdown here the UK, this particular club was the first in the Mecca chain to celebrate three massive 50K jackpot wins in a row.

The club’s general manager, Lynne Butterworth told the Gazette:

It’s always a fantastic moment when someone calls house on a national bingo game, but to know that we are the first Mecca club to have had three of these wins is fantastic.

The luck may have finally run out now for this northern Teesside town now, or it could still keep coming in droves again, who’s to say? Let’s hope it’s the latter however, as we love a winners story here, especially if this luck can rub off onto some of us from time to time…

Are Multiple Bingo Wins A Common Occurrence?

money bag on handThe lucky ‘Sweet_Cucumber’ has most certainly had her fair share of big wins over the past few years, earning her nearly £20K a year in bingo winnings. But can repeated jackpot wins be a common occurrence amongst bingo players? Surely as it’s a game of chance it’s totally impossible to call?

According to Laura Beacon from the Mecca Winners Hub, repeated wins are rare but not unheard of. She admitted herself that 6 big wins in the space of just 4 years is extremely rare and incredibly lucky however, but it does just go to show that you never really know what lies around the corner…
